Starting secondary school marks an exciting new chapter for young people — one that often includes travelling independently for the first time. At S.A.M.E Academy, we help pupils make this transition safely and confidently through our interactive Transition to Secondary Workshops.
Designed for Year 6 and Grade 5 students, these engaging sessions prepare pupils to navigate their new journeys with awareness, responsibility, and confidence.
What the Workshop Covers
Each session is delivered in a fun, interactive workshop format with a mix of discussion, games, and group activities designed to build knowledge and confidence.
Topics include:
• Active travel: walking, cycling, and using public transport safely.
• Main causes of collisions involving young people and how to prevent them.
• Oyster card usage: understanding travel cards, safety on buses and trains.
• Group travel: staying together, planning routes, and keeping safe.
• Distractions: managing phones, earphones, and peer influence while travelling.
• Confidence & independence: developing positive travel habits and awareness.
Our workshops are:
• Interactive and engaging: designed to keep young learners involved through activities, roleplay, and discussion.
